Wayne put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mynderse Academy Blue Devils a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kamden Frechette and Caleb Celso made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Frechette tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Celso struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Frechette has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Frechette went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Celso got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Connor Crawford was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Wayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wayne's record now sits at 10-0. As for Mynderse Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
