The Clarion Area Bobcats are taking a road trip to take on the Elk County Catholic Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Clarion Area can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Thursday. They came up short against DuBois Central Catholic, falling 9-0.
Clarion Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Anderson, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elk County Catholic). They skirted past Cameron County 8-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.
Lance O'Neill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.
Clarion Area was able to grind out a solid victory over Elk County Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarion Area since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
