After two games on the road, Valwood is heading back home. They will take on Frederica Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Valwood rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 35-13 margin over the Raiders. Considering Valwood has won nine matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
De'mar Riley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 257 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Riley was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Meanwhile, Frederica Academy entered their tilt with Terrell Academy with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Frederica Academy blew past Terrell Academy 51-28.
Jordan Triplett was his usual excellent self, rushing for 350 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 62 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Triplett has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rico Holmes, who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Valwood to 9-1 and Southland Academy to 5-7.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Valwood and Frederica Academy have no problem gaining yardage. Valwood has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 397.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Frederica Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 368 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Valwood beat Frederica Academy 32-21 in their previous matchup back in September of 2022. Does Valwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Frederica Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
