The Unity Reed Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 78-54 defeat at the hands of Gainesville. While losing is never fun, Unity Reed can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Gainesville is ranked 104th).
Unity Reed's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Charles Pargo, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds, and Russell Robinson who scored 20 points. The game was Pargo's 13th in a row with at least ten points.
Unity Reed's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Gainesville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Unity Reed will head out on the road to face off against Park View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Park View will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Gainesville will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Patriot at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Patriot knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Gainesville likes a good challenge.
