The Heartland Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 67-48 fall against North County Christian. Heartland Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as North County Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Heartland Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Titus Bock scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bock has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayan Velazquez, who scored 11 points.
Lynus Mitchell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North County Christian, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Mitchell has scored at least a third of North County Christian's points. Kendrick Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Heartland Christian Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 2-6. As for North County Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heartland Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North County Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Metro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Metro and North County Christian are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
