Waukesha South can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves. The Blackshirts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Deanna Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Sanchez was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and eight RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Waukesha South got a massive performance out of Chiara Browne, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Browne a new career-high. Alyson Staley was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Waukesha South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Living Word Lutheran only posted a batting average of .133.
Waukesha South's record now sits at 4-12. As for Living Word Lutheran, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.
Coming up, Waukesha South will head out to face off against Greendale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.53 runs per game on average), something the Blackshirts will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will be playing at home against St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
