The Union City Soaring Eagles extended their postseason success on Friday against the Phillipsburg Stateliners. They walked away with a 24-17 win over the Stateliners. The win was familiar territory for Union City who now have ten in a row.
Leading Union City to victory were Tyler Koffa and Mark Boyd. Koffa rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Boyd rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Boyd hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Union City pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Phillipsburg, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Union City will head out on the road to face off against Passaic County Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Passaic County Tech is ranked 17th, while Union City is ranked 20th). Phillipsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
