Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
The St. Johnsbury Academy offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. Everything went its way against Lyndon Institute as it secured a 61 - 14 win. The Lyndon Institute defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 27 points per game), and St. Johnsbury Academy took advantage of that. With eight consecutive wins, St. Johnsbury Academy boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Big Showdown
The battle between Windsor (ranked 8th in the power rankings) and Woodstock (ranked 11th) turned out to be a fierce competition. Windsor battled it out with Woodstock for a well-earned 12 - 9 overtime win. Nevertheless, Windsor did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped one spot in the rankings.
This Week's Top Game
On paper, the match between Burlington (4th in the power rankings) and Rutland (13th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Burlington picked up a decisive 'W' against Rutland, finishing up at 55 - 14. At 41 points, that marked Burlington's largest margin of victory so far this year.
