Boyle County is a perfect 3-0 against Thomas Nelson since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rebels will be playing at home against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. Boyle County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Thomas Nelson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Boyle County is returning to their home field after beating Campbellsville on theirs, despite the fact Campbellsville has dominated at home this season. The Rebels walked away with an 8-3 win over the Eagles on Thursday. The game was the first time the Rebels have beaten the Eagles on their field since May 11, 2024.
Boyle County got a great performance from Landon Parnass as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Parnass has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kyler Claunch was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Owen Wheeler was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Thomas Nelson can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Caverna as they made off with a 17-1 victory. The Generals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Mason Dobson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dobson was also stellar in the batter's box, earning one RBI, two runs, and five stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Thomas Nelson's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Thomas Nelson let Landon McCubbins and Justin Parsley run wild. McCubbins went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Parsley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. McCubbins has become a key player for Thomas Nelson: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cade Benningfield, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Boyle County is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Thomas Nelson, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
Thomas Nelson's pitching crew better be locked in on Friday. Boyle County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. It's a different story for Thomas Nelson, though, as they've been averaging only 0 home runs. Will they be able to keep Boyle County in the park?
