The Denton Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Dallas. While losing is never fun, Denton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while Lake Dallas is ranked 220th).
Ethan Sheats and Chase Thomas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Sheats dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Thomas scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Thomas hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Torres, who scored six points.
Denton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-21 record this season. As for Lake Dallas, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
Denton will be playing in front of their home fans against Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denton is coming into the game with seven straight losses at home, meaning Argyle will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Lake Dallas, they will head out on the road to face off against Birdville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
