Softball Recap: Morgan Wins Going Away Against Viewmont

Morgan barely beat Viewmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Morgan Trojans were the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over the Viewmont Vikings on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Callie Averett looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Morgan got a massive performance out of Kiernee Carter, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Carter a new career-high. Kaiya Peterson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Morgan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Viewmont only posted an OBP of .429.

Morgan's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Viewmont, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Morgan will take on Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Viewmont has already played their next game (against Dixie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
