Coronado is 9-1 against Lubbock since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Westerners at 7:00 p.m. Coronado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Coronado made easy work of Caprock and carried off a 10-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won seven in a row.

Jaxon Vasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Zac Long was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lubbock beat Palo Duro 7-3 on Tuesday.
Jeff Barrera was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Woodard, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Coronado's record is now 17-11. As for Lubbock, their record now sits at 8-20.
Lubbock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Coronado has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Lubbock, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Coronado's sizable advantage in that area, the Westerners will need to find a way to close that gap.
Coronado skirted past Lubbock 13-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Westerners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
