The Lakewood Gators won the last time they faced the Lake City Panthers, and things went their way on Friday too. Lakewood walked away with a 47-38 win over Lake City. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lakewood.
Zakiya Hodge was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shareanna McFadden, who scored eight points.
Lakewood's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Lake City, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood will take on Marlboro County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlboro County is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home. As for Lake City, they will head out on the road to take on Camden at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Camden has eight straight wins, Lake City has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
