The Lockport Lions had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of St. Mary's by a score of 89-86. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
St. Mary's was led to victory by Griffin Smith and Israel Wilson. Smith scored 30 points along with six rebounds, while Wilson went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and 0 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Szablewski, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Lockport's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for St. Mary's, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lockport will face off against Kenmore West at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Mary's, they will head out on the road to face off against Clarence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
