The Arapahoe Warriors are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Arapahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Arapahoe was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-52 to Wauneta-Palisade.
Arapahoe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sage Larson, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists, and Berkley Warner who scored 16 points along with nine assists and eight rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Larson.
Even though they lost, Arapahoe were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wilcox-Hildreth's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Red Cloud by a score of 32-29. That's two games in a row now that Wilcox-Hildreth has lost by exactly three points.
Despite their loss, Wilcox-Hildreth saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Madison Bunger, who scored five points along with six rebounds and six steals, was perhaps the best of all. Bunger is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Arapahoe now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-8 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Arapahoe have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Wilcox-Hildreth, though, as they've been averaging only 23.2 rebounds per game. Given Arapahoe's sizeable advantage in that area, Wilcox-Hildreth will need to find a way to close that gap.
Arapahoe was taken down by Wilcox-Hildreth 54-26 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Arapahoe, Sarah Jensen (who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
