Puckett is a perfect 10-0 against Mize since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Wolves will face off against the Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Puckett comes in on three and Mize on four.
Puckett took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Clinton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves skirted past the Arrows 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since March 6th.
Lila Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooke Shivers was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Aubree Thomas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Mize ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Richton 2-1.
Mize also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Marissa Reyes gave up only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
Puckett's record is now 24-4. As for Mize, their record now sits at 18-9-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Puckett has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Mize struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Puckett got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Mize by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
