Basketball Game Preview: Woodcreek Timberwolves vs. Vista del Lago Eagles

Woodcreek is 4-0 against Vista del Lago since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Woodcreek Timberwolves will face off against the Vista del Lago Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Woodcreek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Vista del Lago likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Woodcreek beat Christian Brothers 59-49.

Max VanLaningham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Kirby, Jr., who posted 14 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Vista del Lago came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They strolled past Cordova with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 52-35. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Lancers are ranked 957th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodcreek's record now sits at 20-5. As for Vista del Lago, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Woodcreek beat Vista del Lago 53-41 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodcreek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
