South Plaquemines is 0-4 against West Jefferson since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing is sure in South Plaquemines' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while West Jefferson has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Even though South Plaquemines has not done well against Cohen recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. South Plaquemines skirted past Cohen 70-68. With that victory, South Plaquemines brought their scoring average up to 50.7 points per game.
South Plaquemines' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyrin Davis, who scored 15 points along with nine steals and six assists. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Deanel McGee, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for West Jefferson, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-53 loss to East St. John on Wednesday. West Jefferson has not had much luck with East St. John recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
South Plaquemines' victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for West Jefferson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
South Plaquemines couldn't quite finish off West Jefferson in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 40-37. Can South Plaquemines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
