4A Region 1 recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Keaton Austin and Chas Turner connected against Gentry. The connection went for 72 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region 1 this season.
Lincoln extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Berryville, 28-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Wolves.
Cedric Duarte was a force in the backfield as Gravette bested Pea Ridge.
Duarte was a passing and rushing force as the Lions beat the Blackhawks. Duarte's favorite target this week was Cody Heaton, who caught 2 passes for 23 yards.
Justice Hobbs was a key player and the best on defense this week as Farmington beat the Pioneers. The 5-foot-11 sophomore.
Wyatt Banta and Duarte gave Gravette a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Banta threw for 38 yards, while Duarte ran for 235 yards. Cody Robinson also contributed to the rushing game with 57 yards on the ground.
Gentry's Jarod Cousins and Stone Faulkenberry led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Cousins has thrown for 561 yards this season, while Faulkenberry, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 12 catches for 262 yards. Duarte from Bill Harrelson's team leads the league in rushing with 468 yards.
One of 4A Region 1's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Brian Little's team and the Lions face off next week.
The Cardinals are in second place, while Prairie Grove is in third place.
The Tigers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Ozark.
