South San Antonio is a perfect 4-0 against Southside since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as South San Antonio Bobcats challenge Southside Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (South San Antonio: 3.7, Southside: 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
South San Antonio headed into their last match having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Jay let them put that streak behind them. South San Antonio never let Jay get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bobcats have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
South San Antonio got a great performance from Lauren Perez as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave Perez a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Leia Laque was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendra Davila, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
South San Antonio was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jay only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southside, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Jay on Friday. The one-run effort marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Destiny Rodriguez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Southside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brisa Escobar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Southside moved to 9-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for South San Antonio, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-6.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South San Antonio has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Southside struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South San Antonio skirted past Southside 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will South San Antonio repeat their success, or does Southside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
