The Thomas Jefferson Spartans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They had just enough and edged Regis Groff out 49-47. For Thomas Jefferson, this counts as revenge for the 44-25 loss the Fusion walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Leading Thomas Jefferson to victory were Leyna Mcclinon and Leila Olbricht-simon. Mcclinon scored 20 points along with seven rebounds, while Olbricht-simon scored 14 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Olbricht-simon has scored all season.
Thomas Jefferson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Regis Groff, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Jefferson will face off against the Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver West's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Regis Groff, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista PEAK Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully the Fusion like a good challenge.
