The Yuma Catholic Shamrocks will take on the Chino Valley Cougars at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Yuma Catholic will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Yuma Catholic had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Tonopah Valley on Wednesday. The Shamrocks never let the Phoenix get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Shamrocks have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

02/27/25 vs Elko | 2 |
03/13/25 vs Coconino | 2 |
03/14/25 vs Millennium | 2 |
03/31/25 vs River Valley | 2 |
The result came thanks to Cherish Trujillo's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Isabel Rodriguez and Faith Donley did most of the damage at the plate: Rodriguez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Donley went 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Kassandra Reynoso, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Yuma Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Chino Valley won against Wickenburg on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Cougars blew past Tonopah Valley 13-0. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Phoenix: they've now won three in a row.
Kinsey Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jamie Felton was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Maleah Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Chino Valley pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Yuma Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 21-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Yuma Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chino Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
