Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scripps Ranch). They put the hurt on the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots with a sharp 47-27 win on Thursday. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 38-27 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kennedy McCabe went supernova, throwing for 376 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 376 passing yards gave her a new career-high.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sammy Gehler, who threw for 318 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 65 yards and one score. Gehler didn't just play on offense: she also made seven total tackles and defended one pass. Kenna Smith was Gehler's top target, picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Scripps Ranch pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Scripps Ranch has already played their next matchup, an 18-0 victory against University City on the 7th. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 33-12 win against Francis Parker on the 3rd.
