The Marshall Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to United. Marshall was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as United apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Marshall's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Curry, who scored 10 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Flores, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Marshall has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for United, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marshall will square off against Clark at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clark presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Marshall in Texas (Clark is ranked 333rd, while Marshall is ranked 887th). United is on the road again on Friday and play against Ralston Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Ralston Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 400 points over their last six contests.
