The Central Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Chester Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Lamar by a score of 12-9.
Blaire Butler made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Butler was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Bentlee Doster was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Farrah Price was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Chester posted their closest win since March 13, 2025 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Rock Hill 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Cyclones in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won three in a row.
Emily Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.
On the hitting side, Chester saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taralyn Shellenberger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Another was Gabby Cusanno, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Central suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Chester in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
