After flying high against the Guadalupe Centers Aztecs last Thursday, Ozanam came back down to earth. Ozanam fell just short of Frontier School of Excellence by a score of 65-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (59), Ozanam still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Ozanam still got an impressive performance from Talan Olmstead, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Olmstead is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was A.W. Poke, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Frontier School of Excellence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Henry Uti out in front who scored 19 points. Uti has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last four times he's played. Abdi Dahir was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Ozanam has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Frontier School of Excellence, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.
Ozanam won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Training Center Christian at 12:00 p.m. on February 6th. Training Center Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 245 points over their last four games. As for Frontier School of Excellence, they will head out on the road to take on Midland Adventist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Frontier School of Excellence is ranked 376th in Missouri, while Midland Adventist Academy is ranked 362nd in Kansas).
