The Tornillo Coyotes were the 47-33 winner over the Van Horn Eagles when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. Tornillo fell 43-31 to Van Horn on Friday. Tornillo's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Van Horn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gio Corralez, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Anchondo, who scored 15 points.
The last time Tornillo won on the road was back on Tuesday. Having now lost four straight away games, they've bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Van Horn, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Tornillo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kermit at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. As for Van Horn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Immanuel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Immanuel Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
