Puckett is 0-8 against Taylorsville since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Puckett Wolves will challenge the Taylorsville Tartars at 7:00 p.m. Puckett is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Puckett gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 win over Sebastopol. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since February 27, 2024.

04/16/24 vs Sebastopol | 3 |
04/15/24 @ West Lincoln | 3 |
02/18/25 vs Newton | 2 |
03/23/24 @ Wesson | 2 |
Wilkes Carter was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Micah Rusche also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Puckett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sebastopol only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, while Taylorsville put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Mize. Taylorsville was the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Mize. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tartars.
Ty Blakeney and Ford Matthews made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Blakeney struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Matthews didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Blakeney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Blakeney scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Matthews scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Barnes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brady Quinn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Puckett's record is now 5-0. As for Taylorsville, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Puckett has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Taylorsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Puckett might still be hurting after the 14-8 loss they got from Taylorsville in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can Puckett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
