The Sierra Linda Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 59-45 to Central. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sierra Linda of the 48-41 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Sierra Linda saw an underclassman step up: Shania Holmes scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Nyemah Reece was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Lia Sims was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds for Central. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Sims has scored at least a third of Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shakeira Mosley, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Sierra Linda has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
Sierra Linda won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully North Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday. As for Central, they will head out on the road to take on Fairfax at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
