Pickett County is 2-8 against Monterey since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bobcats will head out to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Pickett County will be strutting in after a win while Monterey will be coming in after a defeat.
Pickett County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Red Boiling Springs with a sharp 24-1 victory on Tuesday. The Bobcats have beaten the Bulldogs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.
Rex Reagan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with six stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Colson West was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with eight stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Smith, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Pickett County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monterey suffered their biggest loss since March 5th on Tuesday. They lost 13-0 to Smith County. The Wildcats have struggled against the Owls recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Pickett County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Monterey, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Pickett County suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Monterey when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
