Basketball Recap: Vigor Drops Season-High Score on Citronelle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vigor). They blew past the Citronelle Wildcats, posting a 72-9 win. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Wildcats are ranked 395th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vigor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamonica Chambers, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Chambers has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamonica Miller, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points and five assists.

Vigor is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Citronelle, their defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Vigor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-50 victory against Blount on the 13th. As for Citronelle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-17 win against Alabama School of Math & Science on the 17th.
