Basketball Recap: Wallace-Rose Hill Comes Up Short

Wallace-Rose Hill fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against James Kenan on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the James Kenan Tigers. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Wallace-Rose Hill lost, don't look at Savannah Smith. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points and six rebounds. What's more, Smith also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Tania Smith also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Even though they lost, Wallace-Rose Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

James Kenan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Y'Anna Rivers, who had 13 points. Another player making a difference was Labria McGowan, who scored ten points.

Wallace-Rose Hill's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for James Kenan, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
