McKinney Boyd is 2-8 against Plano East since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The McKinney Boyd Broncos will challenge the Plano East Panthers at 7:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Plano East will be up against a hot McKinney Boyd team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. McKinney Boyd blew past Aubrey 7-1 on Saturday. Considering the Broncos have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Madison Treadwell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last ten matchups.
On the hitting side, Addyson Lewis was a standout: she scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckham Manley, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
McKinney Boyd was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Plano East came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-2 win.
Riley Hopper made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Hopper was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Chloe Lee was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Savannah Leonard, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
McKinney Boyd's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Plano East, their record is now 12-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. McKinney Boyd hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Plano East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
McKinney Boyd might still be hurting after the 25-6 loss they got from Plano East when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can McKinney Boyd avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
