The Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 52-40 to Greenwood. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laurens has scored all season.
Laurens' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyj Jones, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylan Fowler, who scored 14 points.
Laurens struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Greenwood racked up nine assists.
Greenwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeremiah Brooks out in front who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cj Terrell, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Greenwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Laurens will square off against Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Greenville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 721 points over their last 11 games. As for Greenwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Pickens at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pickens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
