The Sharon Tigers will face off against the Oil City Oilers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Sharon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Sharon came up short against Titusville and fell 11-6.
Sharon got a big performance out of Carmine Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Schenker, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Oil City hadn't done well against Grove City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Oilers walked away with a 4-1 win over the Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Oilers.
Casey Rybak made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Conner Lockhart was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Will McMahon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Sharon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Oil City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sharon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Oil City, though, as they've only averaged .277. Will they be able to contain Sharon's hitters?
Sharon took their win against Oil City when the teams last played on April 2nd by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Oilers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
