Basketball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Currituck County Knights

First Flight has gone 8-2 against Currituck County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The First Flight Nighthawks will square off against the Currituck County Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

First Flight is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Greenfield just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were dealt an 84-57 defeat at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Nighthawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Knights are ranked 27th).

The losing side was boosted by Mason Dobie, who posted 17 points. The matchup was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gray Hudspeth, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, Currituck County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 67-55 to Grassfield.

Currituck County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for First Flight, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Everything went First Flight's way against Currituck County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as First Flight made off with a 53-32 victory. Will First Flight repeat their success, or does Currituck County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
