The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils''s three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They blew past Greater Johnstown 40-6 at home. The victory was just what Bellwood-Antis needed coming off of a 42-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Bellwood-Antis found their leader in underclassman Alex Mccartney, who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Greater Johnstown to a paltry 190 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bellwood-Antis' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Chance Schreier and Mccartney who racked up four sacks between them.
Greater Johnstown's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Julias Reed, who threw for 119 yards and a touchdown, and Gerald Veney jr who picked up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bellwood-Antis' win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Greater Johnstown, their loss was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-10.
Bellwood-Antis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Greater Johnstown also has no future games currently scheduled.
