The Scottsbluff Bearcats are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the East Thunderbirds. Scottsbluff came out on top against East by a score of 63-51. For Scottsbluff, this counts as revenge for the 52-48 loss East walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Rylee Meininger was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nate Kelley, who scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals.
Scottsbluff's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for East, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-2.
Scottsbluff will take on Ogallala at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ogallala knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully Scottsbluff likes a good challenge. As for East, they will head out on the road to face off against Laramie at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Laramie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
