The Lone Jack Mules will face off against the Santa Fe Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lone Jack is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Orrick 20-1 on Thursday. The Mules haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe got the win against Midway on Monday by a conclusive 20-4. The game marked the Chiefs' most dominant victory of the season.
JoHanna Breshears and Tatum Fitzwater made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Breshears tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Fitzwater struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. At bat, Breshears went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Fitzwater went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Keastin Kitchen and Brooke Dierking did most of the damage at the plate: Kitchen got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Dierking got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Kitchen a new career-high. Audrey Finkeldi was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Santa Fe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Lone Jack's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Santa Fe, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7-1.
Lone Jack got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Santa Fe by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Mules repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
