The Dr. Krop Lightning will venture away from home to face off against the Hialeah Thoroughbreds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Krop has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Dr. Krop after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 12-1 to Hialeah Gardens.
Dr. Krop saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Prada, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Prada has snagged this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hialeah). They put the hurt on Northwestern with a sharp 18-3 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Thoroughbreds with their most commanding win of the season.
Ronaldo Rivera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rivera was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yanzel Medina, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Yaniel Tabares was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hialeah kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Dr. Krop has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Hialeah, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Dr. Krop suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Hialeah in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
