The Ironwood Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 66-28 loss at the hands of Kellis. Ironwood has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
It was another big night for Shanielle Mallory, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Kellis. Mallory has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Luz Marian Santos Mas, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Ironwood's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.0 points per game. As for Kellis, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 22-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ironwood will face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kellis, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
