LaBrae and Newton Falls are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Vikings will square off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. LaBrae is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
LaBrae is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Cardinal Mooney on Saturday as they made off with a 13-2 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Riley Rowe made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Rowe was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Bragg, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Vada Allen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
LaBrae kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Newton Falls was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 16-2 to Southeast.
Newton Falls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madalyn Knight, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
LaBrae's record is now 8-1. As for Newton Falls, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.
Everything went LaBrae's way against Newton Falls in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as LaBrae made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
