The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will head out to take on the Bennington Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 979 yards in their previous games.
If Plattsmouth beats Bennington with 49 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Blue Devils came out on top against Ralston by a score of 49-36 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.

Levi Walker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 356 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 68 yards. Plattsmouth also got a significant boost from Bradin Vanwinkle, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Plattsmouth was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 455 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.
Plattsmouth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nathan Frederick, Chance Jackson, and Traceson Skalberg picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Bennington suffered their closest defeat since August 29th on Thursday. They fell just short of Elkhorn North by a score of 29-27. The Badgers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Ty Bouaphakeo and Ethan Beachy. Beachy had a great game and rushed for 90 yards and a pair of scores. Meanwhile, Bouaphakeo was balling out in the loss, throwing for 294 yards and three TDs while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 77 yards.
Bennington's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Plattsmouth, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Plattsmouth has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 236 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bennington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 221.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Plattsmouth couldn't quite get it done against Bennington in their previous matchup back in September of 2023 as they fell 28-20. Thankfully for the Blue Devils, Quinton Archer (who rushed for 191 yards and one touchdown, and also caught one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
