Baseball Recap: Clover Sets Scoring Season-High Against York

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clover). They came out on top against the York Cougars by a score of 16-12 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Blue Eagles, who have now won six matches in a row.

Christian Soder looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Politsch, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Marano, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Clover pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for York, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Clover will face off against Indian Land at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for York, they will take on South Pointe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
