Mountain Vista is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Rock Canyon is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will welcome the Rock Canyon Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mountain Vista's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
Mountain Vista is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Legend: they outscored them in every quarter. Mountain Vista put the hurt on Legend with a sharp 86-60 win on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 25 points or more this season.

Mountain Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cal Baskind led the charge by going 8 for 13 on his way to 21 points. Baskind's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payson Land, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Rock Canyon on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Douglas County out of the water with a 78-48 final score. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Huskies are ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rock Canyon's win came from a few key players Mountain Vista will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jacob David, who went 10 of 12 en route to 24 points. Kasen Lehman was another key player, going 9 for 13 on his way to 19 points and six boards.
Rock Canyon was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Mountain Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.9 points. As for Rock Canyon, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Mountain Vista has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.8% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've made 37.4% of their three-pointers this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mountain Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Rock Canyon in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 67-54. Will Mountain Vista repeat their success, or does Rock Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
