The Latta Vikings had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 44-37 win over Lamar on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Latta also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Shawniza Bethea was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Latta's points. Layla Hyatt was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Latta's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Lamar, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Latta will face off against East Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lamar, they will head out on the road to challenge Green Sea Floyds at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
