Oak Glen and Beaver are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Oak Glen Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Beaver Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Oak Glen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Oak Glen can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest. They claimed a resounding 63-34 win over Brooke at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Oak Glen has posted since December 9, 2023.
Kami Ward was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Oak Glen's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Stewart, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Beaver's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by Martins Ferry 66-22. While losing is never fun, Beaver can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Martins Ferry is ranked 160th).
Oak Glen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Beaver, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Everything came up roses for Oak Glen against Beaver when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 71-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oak Glen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
