The Prestonwood Christian Lions waltzed into their contest Thursday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hutto and snuck past 54-52. Given Prestonwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Hutto is ranked 545th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Prestonwood Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kierstin Rink out in front who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Allie Swindell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Prestonwood Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2 record this season. As for Hutto, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Prestonwood Christian will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Lubbock at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hutto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Greenwood at 9:00 a.m. on December 29th. Greenwood has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30.
