Doane Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Northern Burlington Greyhounds at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Doane Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Monday.
Doane Academy pushed their score all the way to 57, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Pemberton 62-57. Doane Academy has not had much luck with Pemberton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Doane Academy got a solid performance out of Vaughn Hoagland, who scored 29 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Warman, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northern Burlington was the victim of a rough 63-43 loss at the hands of Holy Cross on Monday. Northern Burlington has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Doane Academy bumped their record down to 1-1 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Northern Burlington, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Doane Academy skirted past Northern Burlington 63-61 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Doane Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
