Basketball Game Preview: Vance Charter Knights vs. Research Triangle Raptors

Vance Charter is 6-0 against Research Triangle since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Vance Charter Knights will look to defend their home court against the Research Triangle Raptors at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Vance Charter has three straight victories, Research Triangle has 24 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If Vance Charter beats Research Triangle with 41 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Vance Charter strolled past Eno River Academy with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 41-24.

Vance Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Lloyd, who posted six points along with six steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Lloyd is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Adanna Aniekwensi, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Vance Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Research Triangle had to suffer through a 76-9 loss at the hands of Wake Prep Academy. The game marked the Raptors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Research Triangle's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Vance Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Vance Charter against Research Triangle in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as the squad secured a 65-30 win. Will Vance Charter repeat their success, or does Research Triangle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
